Data moves from Google Health to Apple Health. Biomon reads Apple Health.

Short answer

Yes, through the Google Health app. Pair Fitbit Air there with a Google Account, then link Apple Health Connections then Apps and services then Apple Health.

Google Fitbit Air works with an iPhone through the Google Health app: you pair it in that app with a Google Account, not in the iPhone's Bluetooth settings. Its steps, sleep and heart rate stay in Google Health until you link Google Health to Apple Health, the Health app on your iPhone.

What you need

You need What Google says
An iPhone on a supported iOS version The Fitbit Air specs page and the App Store listing say iOS 16.4 or later. Google's setup requirements page says iOS 26 or higher.
A Google Account Required to set up Fitbit Air and pair it with the Google Health app
Bluetooth, internet and location Syncing needs Bluetooth Low Energy (LE), an internet connection and location permissions on the phone, within 30 ft of Fitbit Air

Google's pages disagree on the iOS version. Before you buy, check that the App Store offers Google Health on your iPhone.

Steps

  1. Connect Fitbit Air to its charging cable. Google asks you to do this before setup.
  2. On your iPhone, tap Settings then Bluetooth. Turn on Bluetooth.

    Step 2

    In the iPhone Settings

    1. Settings
    2. Bluetooth
  3. Install Google Health from the App Store. Open it.
  4. Tap Sign in with Google. Choose your Google Account. To make a new account instead, tap Sign in then Create account.

    Step 4

    Where to tap

    1. Sign in
    2. Create account
  5. Follow the on-screen instructions to connect Fitbit Air. If you already use Google Health, tap Connections then Add device at the top left. Choose Fitbit Air. Google says you can't set up a Fitbit device from your phone's Bluetooth screen.

    Step 5

    Where to tap

    1. Connections
    2. Add device
  6. At the top left, tap Connections. Tap Fitbit Air. Find the "Last synced when" note below the device's image. It shows when Fitbit Air last synced.
  7. At the top left, tap Connections then Apps and services. Under Add connections, tap Apple Health. Tap Get started. On the page titled Sync Google Health with Apple Health, tap Agree.

    Step 7

    Where to tap

    1. Connections
    2. Apps and services
  8. Tap Turn All Categories On, or tap the checkbox beside each data type that you want. Tap Allow. On the confirmation page, tap Done.
  9. Open Apple Health. Tap the Profile button in the upper corner. Under Privacy, tap Apps then Google Health. Turn on each data type that you want Google Health to write.

    Step 9

    Where to tap

    1. Apps
    2. Google Health

What you get on iPhone

Data Where you see it
Steps, distance, calories burned and sleep stages The Google Health app. Fitbit Air also records many activities on its own.
Steps, exercise, sleep sessions and stages, heart rate and resting heart rate Apple Health too, after steps 7 to 9
HRV (heart rate variability) and skin temperature Not on Google's list of data that Google Health writes to Apple Health

If it still doesn't work

  • Setup does not find Fitbit Air

Check Bluetooth, as in step 2. Update iOS in Settings then General then Software Update. Start the setup in Google Health, as in step 5.

  • Fitbit Air stopped syncing

Keep it near your iPhone. In Settings then Privacy & Security then Bluetooth, allow Google Health. In Settings then General, turn on Background App Refresh for Google Health. Then open Google Health and pull down on the Today tab to sync.

  • No Fitbit Air data in Apple Health

Update Google Health in the App Store: the App Store notes for version 5.05 list Sync to Apple Health. In Apple Health, check that each data type is on, as in step 9. After a reinstall, Google says you must link Apple Health again, so do steps 7 and 8. For more fixes, see Why is Google Health not syncing to Apple Health?

  • Google Health shows "New data types available"

Review and grant the permissions for the new data types. Google says they are not available in the Google Health app until you do.

  • No light when you double-tap Fitbit Air

Google says no light means that the device is off or out of battery. Put it on the charger.

Why this happens

Fitbit Air has no screen. It syncs through Bluetooth to the Google Health app, where you read your data. Apple Health is a separate app on your iPhone: Google Health writes to it only after you link the two apps, and only the data types that you allow.

Questions

Do you need Google Health Premium to use Fitbit Air?

Only for some features. Google says you need Google Health Premium for advanced health tracking features. Premium connects you with a personal health coach. Fitbit Air comes with 3 months of Premium at no charge.

Does Fitbit Air close the Activity rings on iPhone?

Not the Exercise and Stand rings. Apple shows those two rings only when you have an Apple Watch. Apple says the red Move ring shows active calories, and that workouts in compatible third-party apps add to the progress on your rings. One member on r/fitbit who uses Fitbit Air with an iPhone reported that the rings update only with an Apple Watch, while the other data reaches Apple Health.

Can you use Fitbit Air without a phone?

No. Google says you need a smartphone to pair Fitbit Air with the Google Health app.

Can I still sign in with a Fitbit account?

No. Google says Fitbit account users need to move to a Google Account to use the Google Health app. Google's page gave July 15, 2026 as the date it would begin to process data deletions, and says some users may be able to move their accounts during this period.
