Data moves from WHOOP to Apple Health. Biomon reads Apple Health.

Short answer

In the WHOOP app on iPhone, tap More > App Settings > Data Export, then Create Export. WHOOP emails you a link to CSV files that expires after 7 days.

WHOOP exports your data as several CSV (comma-separated values) files and emails you a link to download them. The files open in Excel, Google Sheets or any spreadsheet tool.

See the 6 steps

Steps

  1. Open the WHOOP app on your iPhone.
  2. Tap More then App Settings then Data Export. More is the icon in the navigation bar.

    Step 2

    Where to tap

    1. More
    2. App Settings
    3. Data Export
  3. Confirm your email address, or update it if it is wrong.
  4. Tap Create Export.
  5. Wait for WHOOP's email. WHOOP says most requests are processed within 24 hours.
  6. Open the email and download your files.

If your app shows a menu icon in the bottom right corner

  1. Tap the menu icon in the bottom right corner.
  2. Scroll down and tap Data Export.
  3. Choose your entire account history as the date range.
  4. Tap Export.

WHOOP says the email usually arrives within a few minutes. A large date range may take up to 24 hours.

What the export holds

WHOOP organizes the files by physiological cycles, the period from one sleep to the next, not by calendar days.

CSV file What it holds
Physiological Cycles WHOOP's daily scores, resting heart rate, HRV (heart rate variability), energy burned, heart rate, sleep onset and wake times, sleep stages, and on WHOOP 4.0 and later, SpO2 (blood oxygen) and skin temperature
Sleeps Total sleep time, WHOOP's own measures of sleep debt, sleep efficiency and sleep performance, respiratory rate, and time in light, deep and REM sleep
Workouts Activity name, duration, WHOOP's heart rate zones, energy burned, and GPS data if you turned it on
Journal Entries Your answers about your behaviors, habits and daily routines

The files may not hold the sets, weight and reps of strength training workouts: one member's feature request on the WHOOP Community says the bulk export does not support them.

If it still doesn't work

  • No email after the wait in step 5

Check your spam folder. If the email is not there, contact WHOOP Member Support.

  • The link has expired

Request a new export, as in steps 2 to 4.

Other ways to get WHOOP data out

Way What you get
Apple Health An automatic sync of workouts, active energy, heart rate during activities such as sleep and runs, sleep, resting heart rate, respiratory rate, SpO2, and steps if you turn them on in WHOOP
Apple Health export All of your Health data, not only WHOOP's, in XML format, a common format for sharing data between apps

To connect WHOOP to Apple Health, see Why is WHOOP not syncing to Apple Health? To export from Health, open the Health app and tap Summary. Tap your picture or initials. Tap Export All Health Data, then choose a method for sharing your data.

Questions

Does the WHOOP export include HRV?

Yes, the Physiological Cycles file includes HRV. Apple Health does not get it, though. WHOOP says it does not export HRV to Apple Health at this time, and that WHOOP calculates RMSSD (root mean square of successive differences) while Apple Health uses SDNN (standard deviation of normal-to-normal intervals).

Can I export WHOOP data after I cancel?

WHOOP does not say that you can. It says to request the export while your account is active, and to download the file from your email before your membership expires. After you cancel, WHOOP says you can still view your past data.
