Data from Apple Watch stops on its way to Apple Health until the steps below fix it. Biomon reads Apple Health.

Short answer

Health can't change a saved night. Delete it Browse then Sleep then Sleep then Show All Data, swipe left, Delete, then tap the Add button to enter the right times.

Apple Health on iPhone cannot change a night of sleep after it is saved, whether Apple Watch, your iPhone, an app such as Oura or you added it. To fix a night, delete its wrong records in Show All Data, then add the right date and times by hand.

See the 9 steps

Delete the wrong night, then add it again

  1. Open the Health app on your iPhone. Tap Browse then Sleep then Sleep.

    Step 1

    In the Health app

    1. Browse
    2. Sleep
    3. Sleep
  2. To see which apps and devices write sleep to Health, scroll down. Below Options, tap Data Sources & Access. Only the sources that contribute sleep show there. Go back to the Sleep screen.
  3. Below Options, tap Show All Data: the list of each sleep record in Health. One member of Apple Community, Apple's support forum, reports that it lists each sleep stage that was recorded.
  4. Find the records of the night that is wrong.
  5. Swipe left on a record. Tap Delete.
  6. Delete each other wrong record of that night in the same way.
  7. Tap Sleep in the top-left corner to go back.
  8. Tap the Add button in the top-right corner of the screen.
  9. Enter the date, the time and the data for that night. Tap Done.

Which change to choose

Change What you keep What you give up
Delete only the wrong records (steps 5 and 6) The other records of that night, as the device recorded them Only the records that you delete
Delete the whole night, then add it by hand (steps 5 to 9) The times that you enter The stage details that the device recorded for that night

One member of Apple Community reports that deleting a night to add it again loses those details.

If Oura wrote the night

Oura says that it exports sleep to Apple Health, with the sleep duration, start time, end time and sleep stages. Oura lets you change its own record in the Oura app:

  1. In the Oura app, go to the Sleep detail view.
  2. Tap the adjust icon.
  3. Drag the sliders to your bedtime or wake-up time. Tap Done.

Oura says that you can only shorten a sleep period, not extend it. An edited period must be at least three hours long, and sleep data older than three days can no longer be edited. Oura's page does not say whether the change reaches Health, so check Show All Data afterwards (step 3).

If it still doesn't work

  • You can't find Show All Data

Apple says to scroll down to Options. Two members of Apple Community report that it sits below Apple's articles and app suggestions, one of them on iOS 26, in a section that the other calls More.

  • Swipe left does nothing

On the Show All Data screen, tap Edit in the upper corner. Tap the Delete button next to the record. Tap Done.

  • Edit on the Sleep screen opens your schedule

Edit below Schedule changes your sleep schedule: your bedtime and wake up times. A saved night is under Show All Data (step 3).

  • Your watch split one night into two blocks

Apple's pages give no step to join two blocks. One member reports that the watch stopped tracking at a 4 a.m. wake-up and tracked a new block over an hour later. The table above gives the trade-off.

  • A night came from your iPhone, not your watch

Apple says that if you set up a sleep schedule in Health, iPhone estimates the periods when you're lying in bed with the intention to sleep. Check whether your iPhone is a source in Data Sources & Access (step 2). Delete its wrong record in Show All Data (step 5).

Why this happens

HealthKit is Apple's central store for health and fitness data on iPhone and Apple Watch, and apps share data with Health through it. Apple's developer documentation says that HealthKit objects, the pieces of data in that store, are all immutable: their properties are set when the object is first created, and they cannot change. Apple lists adding data and deleting data among what you can do in the Health app, and its support pages give no step to change a record. One night is also several records. Apple's documentation describes one set of records for the time in bed, and more detailed records for each stretch awake, in core sleep (light or intermediate sleep), in deep sleep or in REM (rapid eye movement) sleep, with times that overlap the time in bed.

Questions

Does deleting sleep data on my iPhone delete it on my other devices?

It can. Apple says that if your Health data syncs over iCloud, deleting data on one device removes it from all synced devices connected to the same iCloud account.

How do I delete all my sleep data in Apple Health?

In the Health app, tap Browse > Sleep > Sleep. Below Options, tap Show All Data. Tap Edit, then tap Delete All. Apple says Delete All deletes every record, so use it only when you want no sleep history left in Health.
